Not surprisingly, I got about the same result as you did. Surprisingly, neither of us is considered strong on upper midwest accent. Musta been our Kansan parents teaching us to talk. I remember our neighbor kids Pete and Chris Nielsen saying "bag" and rhyming it with "vague," and "cat" had two syllables to Peter; he got in trouble with the teacher for it.
